Since the beginning of July this year, four fewer prison guards have been assigned to the “Ziegelstadl” on weekends and holidays. An entire wing even remains unoccupied. This is a pilot project, but not all employees are happy with it.
An email from the prison management to the staff – which is available for the “Krone” – talks about a “trial operation”. The desire has been expressed from various quarters to try out a new form of duty scheduling, which would allow employees to take more days off in total and at the same time require less additional workload. It says: “The special challenges in the implementation of punishments and measures always lie in the tension between high-quality service provided by employees and a balanced work-life balance.”
