A freezing homeless man probably wanted to warm up, so he started a fire in the basement of a residential building in the center of Linz. At least that is what the Linz police suspect as the cause of the fire. Seven people were injured in the incident.
“It was originally believed to be arson. “The investigators now suspect that a homeless person wanted to warm himself and therefore lit a fire, but had no intention of starting the fire,” says Ulrike Handlbauer from the press service of the Upper Austrian State Police Directorate.
As reported, a fire broke out on Sunday evening in the basement of a turn-of-the-century residential building at Südtiroler Straße 26. 17 residents were treated, seven of whom had to be hospitalized.
