Dozens injured – Israeli soldiers killed in drone strike

Date:

Four soldiers were killed in a drone attack by the Lebanese Hezbollah militia on an Israeli army base near the town of Binyamina. Seven other soldiers were seriously injured.

According to emergency services, more than sixty people were injured in the attack on Sunday. This makes it one of the bloodiest attacks on Israel since the Gaza war began just over a year ago.

Drone came in without warning
Before the attack, the warning sirens had not sounded. “We will investigate how a drone could enter and hit a base without warning,” Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari announced in a statement shortly after midnight, according to media reports.

The pro-Iranian Hezbollah claimed responsibility for the attack. An Israeli military training camp in Binyamina was attacked with a “squad of attack drones”. Israeli radar systems did not detect the advanced drones, Hezbollah announced that evening via Telegram.

The Shiite militia announced even more violent attacks if the neighboring state did not stop its offensive in Lebanon – and that “what it experienced today in southern Haifa is only a small taste of what awaits us if it decides to stop its aggression against our noble and beloved people.”
