For an unknown case, a fire broke out on the second floor of an apartment building in Rankweil (Vorarlberg) on Sunday afternoon. When the rescue workers arrived, the building was already on fire.
Brandbrigade and the police soon discovered that fortunately there were no more people in the building. A neighboring house was evacuated as a precaution. The members of the voluntary fire brigade of Rankweil managed to quickly control the fire with the support of colleagues of the surrounding communities. A spread of the flames to other buildings was prevented.
Two people who apparently had received part of the smoke during the fire were taken to the State Hospital in Feldkirch with suspected flue gas poisoning.
In the apartment building caused enormous damage caused by the fire or during the extinguishing work. The cause of the fire is currently unclear.
