The unrest at European airports continues. Now a presenter of krone.tv has also been touched: she has been waiting for her suitcase for three weeks.
Because airports and airlines have laid off too many staff during the pandemic and haven’t filled them yet, in many places nothing is working. For inexplicable reasons people were taken by surprise by the unbroken wanderlust and there was a lack of security and cabin crew everywhere. The rest of the workers are fighting for better working conditions – the result is long queues at counters, flight cancellations and strikes, as planned by Ryanair and Lauda employees in June and July (we reported).
Presenter’s luggage has been gone for three weeks
Another problem: Baggage is sometimes carelessly lost. This was also the experience of krone.tv presenter Annie Müller-Martinez. On May 30, she traveled with Lufthansa to Frankfurt for the cinema premiere of “Jurassic World”. The flight was carried out, what was missing without a trace was her suitcase full of equipment, clothing and make-up. Despite inquiries from the airline, she was forced to continue her journey to Cologne without her luggage.
The business trip turned into a stress test, reveals Müller-Martinez in the “Krone” interview. “I just stocked up on supplies like deodorant and toothpaste on a high street, then it went to premiere.” While she did her work on the spot against expectations, she is still struggling with her suitcase now, three weeks later.
Via detours he ended up in her hotel in Cologne. She does not want to accept that the property sends her the piece of luggage at her own expense. After a marathon over the phone, in which she was sometimes rudely rejected by airline employees, she is now being offered money as compensation. The presenter still wants to take legal action against the airline.
What to do if you have lost your suitcase or travel bag?
According to current figures, 99.5 percent of luggage arrives at its destination. But what to do if it is lost? Joachim Leitner of the Consumer Arbitration Committee advises to remain calm and immediately complain to the lost and found counter at the airport. The airline then takes care of finding the luggage. Valuables should, if possible, still be carried in hand luggage or be additionally insured. For questions, the arbitration committee can always be reached on 01/890 63 11.
