A different kind of mission for a hunter in the capital of Styria: the supervising hunter had to go out in Andritz to free a deer from a garden door.
Attentive residents recognized the somewhat difficult situation in which a deer had found itself on Monday. The wild animal apparently wanted to slip through a garden gate in the Andritz district of Graz, but got stuck and ended up trapped. The neighbors immediately informed the responsible supervising hunter, Matthias Kohlbacher. He arrived quickly and eventually expertly freed the animal from its plight. He discovered that it was a young animal that had only been born this spring.
Incidents often end in martyrdom for animals
“Fences, gates, carelessly left wires or cords and, in summer, swimming pools are very dangerous for wildlife and often end in real martyrdom for the affected animals. “Fortunately, in the current case, everything worked very well,” says state hunter Franz Mayr-Melnhof-Saurau. “My special thanks go to both the considerate neighbors and our hunters, who are always the right people to contact when it comes to wildlife.”
