An electric scooter caught fire while riding in Shenzhen, China. Shortly before the vehicle exploded, the driver was able to escape by jumping.
A motorist waiting at an intersection captured the spectacular incident on October 7. The already burning electric scooter races past the handlebars – you see the sparks flying. The vehicle eventually bursts into a fireball in the middle of the intersection.

The driver of the electric motorcycle is able to jump off the scooter just in time. He quickly managed to get to safety by rolling across the road – this way he was able to extinguish the flames from his burning clothes.
The driver’s quick response likely saved his life. He still suffered burns to his upper body, face and legs. While rescuers rushed to help the victim, the alerted fire brigade extinguished the fire. No passersby were injured in the accident.
