Before the BRICS summit – Russia is ashamed of its living standards

Date:

A BRICS meeting will take place in the Russian city of Kazan from October 22 to 24. Bizarre steps are now being taken to present the best possible image to the outside world – and to disguise the economic problems.

“We were told to go to work by public transport and park the cars in the garage, or at least further away, in the courtyards,” an angry Russian told the news portal “116.ru”. He was asked by his employer not to drive to the city center in an old car for the time being.

“Old, rusty and excessively loud” cars would ruin their appearance, the news portal “116.ru” quotes an informed source. And this probably doesn’t make the host country look particularly good…

The students are not spared either. They were therefore warned not to make the environment unsafe – or rather ugly – with their “old bowls”.

“Don’t disgrace the city”
“They gathered us all together and explained that during the summit it was forbidden to drive through the city in ‘old buckets’ with loud music, low seats and mufflers. They told us, “Don’t disgrace the city,” one student reported.

32 countries will be represented
According to Russian presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov, 32 countries are participating in the summit. 24 of them will be represented by heads of state. Cultural centers, libraries and museums remain closed during this period. Kazan universities will switch to distance learning, students will be given free time.
