A 43-year-old with a 70 percent disability received unlimited health care benefits. After investigation, the 305 euros per month is no longer available and the girl from Pinkafeld (Burgenland) does not know how to make ends meet with her seven-year-old son.
Caroline B. was 19 years young when the fatal traffic accident occurred in 1998. Her boyfriend lost control of the car and died, the woman from Pinkafeld survived with serious injuries – complicated fractures, liver and lung tears, a bruised heart. The 43-year-old is missing a kidney and spleen. Cervical vertebral problems, hernias and migraines are daily companions, as well as panic attacks and major depression that have been treated unsuccessfully for a decade.

After working for the federal government for the past seven years, Caroline B. had to admit to herself: “I can’t do it anymore!” Due to the severe disability, a disability of 70 percent was certified and an unlimited entitlement to health care allowance, level 2, was granted in April 2021 – makes 305 euros per month. On top of the emergency aid of EUR 1008 and EUR 121.90 in child benefit for the seven-year-old son whose father does not pay alimony. For housing, including the repayment of the government loan, you have to pay 600 euros per month.
Five minutes before the diagnosis
Her GP, specialists and the AMS advised her to apply for a disability pension. Caroline B. had to stop the healthcare allowance for this. The PVA sent an expert who came to the conclusion within five minutes: the depression was only mild and Caroline B. was able to fully work. This report was confirmed at the Social Court of Güssing on April 21, the right to health care allowance has expired and B. has to make ends meet with 529.90 euros per month for himself and the boys.
Father Gerald B. locates “fraud” and has therefore now taken legal action against the expert.
