A man from Switzerland, who is only twenty years old, is said to have sent several bomb threats, causing numerous evacuations in Austria. The suspect was located following a European arrest warrant. Now it is clear: the young man will not be extradited.
After a series of threats against numerous institutions in Austria, the suspected 20-year-old Swiss was temporarily arrested during a raid. Pre-trial detention had not been requested, a spokesperson for the St. Gallen public prosecutor’s office confirmed late on Wednesday afternoon.
Extradition not agreed
As a result, Swiss authorities will not extradite the man to Austria. “As a Swiss he should have agreed, but he didn’t,” the spokesperson said.
Since the end of September, public life has been significantly affected in several places in the country. Why? A Swiss man, who is only twenty years old, is said to have sent approximately 27 threatening emails in Austria. Train stations, but also schools, were particularly affected by the terror warnings.
Emails went to state police
The pattern of threats was always the same: the state police headquarters of the state in question received an email stating that explosives had been planted.
