A video on social media is currently causing a stir among users. On TikTok, users ask only one thing: why didn’t the police officers intervene when a motorist drove next to them in a serpentine line? The “Krone” asked the Upper Austrian State Police.
A video is currently causing a lot of discussion and excitement on the social media platform TikTok. It shows a bizarre incident involving the driver of a white car on the A25 in Wels. He appeared to be very drunk behind the wheel as he drove in winding lines on the hard shoulder. Particularly explosive: There was a police car right next to the vehicle, but the officers apparently did not intervene.
The video was posted to TikTok on Monday and went viral just a few hours later. After just two days it had already been viewed more than a million times. The reactions did not take long, as the video has already been commented on more than 600 times.
Users take it with humor
To almost everyone watching, the impression is that the police are ignoring the driver’s behavior and taking no action. However, many users still took the situation with humor: “What do the police do for a living?”, one of them asked, for example. Another user sarcastically wrote: “The service ended two minutes ago, we are not doing anything anymore today.”
Some TikTok users are also baffled by the behavior of the police and see the situation seriously: “I would immediately forward this to a department so they can find out which incompetent police officers they are.”
The police deny the accusations
When asked by “Krone”, the press service of the State Police Directorate of Upper Austria explained that the situation had been misunderstood. The statement said: “Our officers will have signaled to the driver of the white Mazda to stop him. In response, the driver drove onto the emergency lane. There the police officers will have informed the driver that he must follow them. They then left at the next exit,” said the Upper Austrian police.
