The Executive is ‘willing’ to assist Sidenor’s purchase of Talgo if there are guarantees of employment and ‘rooting’.
The Basque Industry Minister, Mikel Jauregi, insisted on Thursday that the regional executive supports Sidenor’s intention to enter the capital of Talgo if its roots in the Basque Country are preserved and employment is promoted, and he has defended that the priority now is “work quietly and discreetly.”
The intention of the Basque industrial group Sidenor to penetrate the capital of Talgo, either by buying part of it or even taking over the entire company, was announced yesterday.
He has reiterated that although the process is at a very initial stage, the regional executive is ready to assist this operation, but as long as it is a “solid project with an industrial future for Talgo, which allows it to establish roots in Euskadi and improving industrial employment”.
“If these conditions are met, the Basque government will support the operation. The priority now is to act calmly and, above all, discreetly,” he defended.
