Gangs that specialize in all-terrain vehicles are carrying out one coup after another. The thefts have so far caused more than 100,000 euros in damage.
Quad bikes are currently in high demand as loot. For the second time, burglars have hit Philip Prisching’s Motohawk store in Unterwart. The perpetrators acted extremely professionally. They entered the company premises through a twisted fence.
No cameras in case of current theft
To prevent them from being filmed, all surveillance cameras were disabled using a jammer-like device. There are still video recordings. Cameras from neighboring businesses captured two criminals making off with a CF Moto CForce 1000 quad bike and two Honda Gold Wing motorcycles at around 2.30am.
The loot is worth 100,000 euros
“Four masked perpetrators were seen during the burglary two years ago. At around three o’clock in the morning they broke my shop window with a hoe and were seen loading four motorcycles, spare parts and accessories,” said Prisching. The value of the loot from both coups amounts to 100,000 euros.
Thomas Driver’s damage of 10,000 euros is not covered by the insurance. His Batman quad, which was parked locked under a carport at his mother’s home address in Altschlaining, was stolen on the night of October 11 by unknown perpetrators. The top case contained the registration certificate and a black full-face helmet.
Possibly more coups
This theft is probably related to a new coup in Willersdorf. Shortly after Altschlaining, a 49-year-old woman’s quad bike, which was parked on the side of the road in front of a residential building, was lost. The registration certificate was in the top case. The all-terrain vehicle is worth almost € 12,000. There are fears of further coups.
