With more than half of the votes, favorite Gottfried Hirz, former club president of the Greens, was elected as the new president of the Upper Austrian Red Cross. This put him just ahead of Wilbirg Mitterlehner, the former district governor of Rohrbach, and well ahead of Hans-Peter Schlachter, the old local branch manager in Gallneukirchen.
The new president of the Upper Austrian Red Cross was elected on Saturday morning at the Sankt Magdalena education center. Of the three candidates, the election commission’s favorite and suggestion, Gottfried Hirz, won with 55 percent (28 votes). He succeeds Walter Aichinger, who died in August.
Close race
Gottfried Hirz, who was switched online due to illness, was just ahead of Wilbirg Mitterlehner, the former district governor of Rohrbach: she received 26 votes. Hans-Peter Schlachter, local branch manager in Gallneukirchen for many years, received seven votes.
