Four people were seriously injured in a knife attack in the German state of Lower Saxony on Saturday. The 32-year-old suspect was arrested.
The attacker seriously injured three men and a 48-year-old woman with a knife on the side of the road in Vallstedt this afternoon, a police spokesman said.
As the “Peiner Allgemeine Zeitung” reported, the victims were sweeping the sidewalk or in their front yard when they were attacked.
The arrested person has not yet been convicted
According to the police, the background to the crime is still completely unclear. The 32-year-old suspected perpetrator from Peine was arrested by the officers on the spot without resistance. As the newspaper reported, citing police, the man had not previously attracted attention and had no criminal record.
Severity of the injuries unclear
The injured men are 18, 66 and 73 years old. The police spokesperson could initially not say whether the lives of the victims were in danger. Several ambulances and a helicopter were deployed to take all the injured to nearby hospitals.
