Harris or Trump? – Choosing between two worlds: America’s ultimate test

Date:

In about two weeks, Americans will go to the polls: Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. What do their followers believe?

Less than 400 hours remain before Americans go to the polls on November 5. The presidential election between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is about more than just the choice between Democrats and Republicans or progressive versus conservative-populist politics. In the United States, there are two political camps voting that seem to live in two different Americas.

There is a deep divide between the two fan camps
The divisions between Trump fans and Harris supporters are so deep that they transcend opposing ideologies. According to the latest research, people’s perceptions in the post-truth era are so different that it shocks neutral observers. Trump and his running mate JD Vance in particular are trying to take advantage of this by spreading their own ‘truths’ and often fear.

Trump voters are more likely to believe in ‘fake news’
The results of a current study by the YouGov opinion research institute show how effective this is. According to the survey, 90 percent of likely vice presidential voters are confident the government will provide financial assistance to hurricane victims. This, in turn, is believed by only 35 percent of all Trump supporters — 83 percent of whom falsely believe that disaster funds flowed to illegal immigrants.

Opposing worldview
The opposing worldview runs like a thread through every issue that heats up emotions in the country. Only 12 percent of Trump voters think the current economic situation is good, as opposed to three-quarters of all potential Harris voters. And only a good third of Trump fans are aware of the fact that stock prices are higher than at the beginning of the year.

In contrast, 84 percent of them believe that food and gasoline prices are still rising steadily. The official statistics say the opposite – and Democratic voters know it.

Migration is the biggest controversial topic
The differing views in the camps of both candidates are particularly evident when it comes to the issue of migration. The number of illegal immigrants in September is the lowest since Joe Biden took office. Yet 83 percent of Trump voters want to know that “illegal invasions” are still rising or at least have not yet fallen from record levels.

While 67 percent of Harris voters believe the administration has tried to reduce the flow of illegal immigrants since taking office, 65 percent of Trump voters are certain that Biden and Harris have deliberately increased immigration numbers. With the justification that their political idol prefers to spread: Democrats want to rig election results in their favor by getting illegal immigrants to vote for them.

Both parties believe in ‘outside influence’
It is no surprise that only 50 percent of Trump voters are willing to accept the outcome of the election – if the Republican does not win. In contrast, 72 percent of Harris voters would not contest a Trump victory.

At least one thing both parties agree on: 81 percent believe that hostile governments, and Russia in particular, are already trying to influence the US elections for their own purposes. However, opinions differ 100 percent about which candidate.
