Austria’s number two, Red Bull Salzburg, is in danger of having problems with the Bundesliga. Only one of the Bulls’ three goaltending coaches has the league-required license. However, he mainly works at the Mozartstadt Academy and only sits on the bench as a ‘shadow man’.
Virtually no stone was left unturned for the bulls this summer. A lot has happened, especially among the team’s staff. Coach Pep Lijnders brought two well-known faces to the city of Mozart: Vitor Matos (assistant coach) and Andreas Kornmayer (athletics coach). The goalkeeper coach positions were also filled.
Instead of legend Herbert Ilsanker, who now works in the academy, and Sebastian Baumgartner (Bochum), Lijnder’s intimate Pedro Filipe da Silva Pereira and ex-Bulls goalkeeper Eddie Gustafsson were installed. But there is even a third goalkeeper coach in the group. At least officially. His name: David Schartner.
