A 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Paris after refusing to give his mobile phone to two teenagers. The Paris prosecutor’s office said the 16 and 17-year-old suspects have been arrested.
When the 14-year-old came home from football practice on Friday evening, the two asked for his cell phone. When he refused, one of the two allegedly stabbed him violently in the shoulder, according to the investigating authority. A friend of the youth provided first aid and helped identify the attackers. The young people are being investigated for extortion resulting in death.
The 14-year-old died Saturday afternoon at University Hospital. The news caused an uproar at his football club.
On Facebook, the football club mourns the loss of its youth player who died in the “terrible attack”:
Suspects already known to the court
One of the alleged attackers had already received a legal education measure for theft just over a year ago. In October, both young people were arrested for theft with violence. According to the Public Prosecution Service, they risk life imprisonment for the fatal attack on the 14-year-old.
Shortly before Christmas, a 16-year-old was killed in a gang dispute between youths outside a school in Paris.
