Shocking moment on Sunday morning for a hiker in East Tyrol! Not far from the Maria Trost chapel, the man found a hand grenade. The harmless service was deployed, but was quickly given the green light.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m., the hiker reported the discovery of the hand grenade at the Lienz police station. He walked along the footpath to the Maria Trost Chapel and came across the grenade about 20 meters below the chapel.
Grenade without explosives
“The site was then cordoned off over a large area and a call was made for the rescue service and the BMI rescue service,” police said. When the specialists examined the find around 2:20 p.m., it was determined that it was a grenade without explosives. “The relic has been seized for further investigation,” the director said. Further investigations are ongoing.
