The 53-year-old died in the tragic incident during the dismantling of the festival in St. Pölten. The 36-year-old forklift driver had smoked a joint the night before, but his lawyer does not believe there was gross negligence in the manslaughter. Trial postponed!
A tragic incident overshadowed the dismantling work at the Frequency Festival in St. Pölten on August 23. In the area along the Traisen, a 53-year-old died around noon after being hit by a forklift truck while jogging.
A Viennese man was behind the wheel and is now being tried for negligent homicide. The 36-year-old is said to have driven the six-ton truck under the influence of drugs (cocaine and cannabis were found in his blood) and without a driver’s license. When pushing back, a collision occurred.
Suspect pleads partially guilty
It was the third time that the forklift driver was on duty at Frequency. The scene of the accident is clearly visible. “Where did the woman come from?” Mr. Rat wants to know from the defendant. But the man cannot answer this question. He will probably never forget the terrible screams: “I immediately called the rescue team and provided first aid,” he explains. In vain.
“The woman walked with earplugs and according to the report the path was freely accessible,” the lawyer said, noting that there was no gross negligence. The trial at the St. Pölten Regional Court was postponed indefinitely for further witnesses and additional reports.
