If you are already driving illegally, it is better not to drive through a red light. In Villach, officers found two young people.
Shortly before midnight on Thursday, a police patrol on Ossiacherzeile in Villach observed a car ignoring a red light at the intersection with Trattengasse and driving north. “The pursuit was immediately initiated with lights flashing and an attempt was made to stop the driver of the vehicle,” state police headquarters described the incident.

However, the driver was not stopped and first turned right onto Seebacher Allee and then onto Kasernengasse. “He lost control of the vehicle, collided slightly with the pipe barrack fencing and came to a stop,” officials said.
Although the driver and his passenger tried to escape on foot, both the 14-year-old driver from the Feldkirchen district and the 15-year-old passenger from Villach were prevented by police officers. “No one was injured in the collision. There was only minor material damage,” the police summarized.

Now the 14-year-old faces multiple charges: “The driver committed several administrative violations while driving the car. The license plates attached to the car were stolen.” The owner of the car involved is the subject of further criminal investigation.
