In the Eibiswald, hailstorms the size of golf balls came down from the sky on Tuesday evening. Numerous roofs were damaged. The fire brigade was in action. On Wednesday, thunderstorms with heavy rain and large hail threaten from the west to the southeast of Styria.
“A heavy hailstorm with hail showers the size of a golf ball caused serious damage in Eibiswald late Tuesday afternoon,” reports Hans Jürgen Ferlitsch of the Deutschlandsberg fire brigade. The fire brigade also had to seal roofs in several places.
In addition to numerous damaged vehicles and greenhouses, a number of roofs were literally full of holes during the short but violent storm.
In total, 29 firefighters were on the road with seven vehicles for six hours to seal the roofs again before the next rain comes. In addition to a few single-family homes, the use of the larger roof areas was particularly labour-intensive for a company and an agricultural property.
There is also a high chance of thunderstorms in the evening in parts of Styria on Wednesday. Thursday there will be less thunderstorms, but in the morning it will be mainly wet.
