The trial of a 27-year-old from Western Styria, who allegedly hired an acquaintance to find a killer for his ex’s new partner on Darknet, ended on Wednesday evening with a surprise: the jury of the Graz Criminal Court ruled the man free. (not legally binding). The trial took place for the second time, as the first remained without a verdict in February this year due to lack of motivation.
The prosecution accused the Styrian of asking an acquaintance for a killer from the dark web so that he could eliminate his ex-girlfriend’s new partner (attempted murder determination). The plan never came to fruition, the suspect denied the act and was acquitted – in the new version of this trial.
problems with jealousy
After the relationship ended, the 27-year-old tried to get his ex-girlfriend’s attention through suicide threats that he spread among his friends, prosecutor Stefan Pirker said. When she did meet a new partner, he hired a “loyalty tester”. “His behavior was always problematic when an ex had a new boyfriend.”
When that didn’t work either, he allegedly incited an acquaintance to look for a killer from the Darknet for the “successor”. It was supposed to look like a car accident: “We’re not here in Chicago,” Styrian attorney Georg-Christian Gass tried to put things into perspective. “How’s that supposed to work? I hire one of them to drive their car into the other, then I wipe myself and leave?” But it all didn’t work out anyway. The friend went to the police.
What does “giving someone away” mean?
“You said you want to clean it up?” asked Judge Hanspeter Draxler. “Yes, but what I meant was to break up the relationship, break it up,” said the accused. “Under normal use, however, cleaning up does not mean ending a relationship,” the judge said. The accusations are only a revenge plan because of the 380 euros that the acquaintance owes him.
On Wednesday evening, the jury surprisingly acquitted the Styrian marker. The hearing took place for the second time. The first trial ended without a verdict due to a lack of justification.
