Open Day – On October 26, the Republic invites you to the festival again

As usual, a number of celebrations and state events will take place to mark the National Day on October 26. The presidential office, chancellery and parliament open their doors and the highest state representatives lay wreaths. The armed forces march to Heldenplatz while the police perform. The city of Vienna invites you to a safety festival on Rathausplatz.

The program points in detail:

• The Federal President at 9.30 am Alexander Van der Bellen a wreath on Heldenplatz, followed by the federal government at 10 a.m
• It’s from 10am Presidential office accessible to visitors. Van der Bellen and his wife Doris Schmidauer welcome the guests in front of the Hofburg on Ballhausplatz. There are exploratory tours and employees answer questions about the building. Visitors can tour the official and representative rooms and learn about the duties of the president. Registration is not required.
• The Federal Chancellery is open for visitors between 12:00 and 17:00. In the evening the president will give a speech about ORF.

• Visitors can take a one-hour guided tour between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m Parliament participating, which leads through the meeting rooms of the National and Federal Councils, as well as the plenary session under the new glass dome. A new offering for kids includes a sticker pass, quiz and painting station. Tours are offered in German, English and Austrian sign language. Registration recommended.

• The Austrian Federal Army invites you to an information and performance show in the center of Vienna. In addition to the central ceremony on Heldenplatz, there are also events in the Burgtheater, Am Hof, on Freyung and in the city of Salzburg. After the wreath laying ceremony, visitors can attend parachute jumps and Eurofighter flights, followed by the swearing-in of new recruits and various speeches and demonstrations.
• It Diploma The tattoo will be at 5pm. Helicopters and tanks are also presented on the Sunday after the national holiday.

• At the Police Day There are various activities on Minoritenplatz between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. A concert of the Police Music of Lower Austria starts at 12 noon. Employees of the Ministry of the Interior are available for discussions, there are assignments and a competition.
• The state transport department and units Cobra and WEGA also introduce themselves. The conclusion is a joint operational demonstration.

• The Security Festival of the city of Vienna takes place on Friday and Saturday at the Rathausplatz, where various Viennese emergency services and organizations such as the fire brigade, rescue services, nature lovers and Vienna Water present their activities.
