On Sunday evening there was a fire in a residential building in Hartl (Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district). A 31-year-old man suffered smoke inhalation, but his four-year-old son was unharmed. His partner (35) reacted unexpectedly aggressively towards the emergency services. The fire is said to have started.
It must have been a big shock for father and son (4) in the municipality of Hartl in Eastern Styria: on Sunday evening at 3:20 p.m. they noticed the fire on the first floor of their house. They managed to escape outside – the 31-year-old then tried to extinguish the still manageable fire with a fire extinguisher. The alerted fire brigades Obertiefenbach and Stubenberg arrived on the scene a short time later with almost 40 men.
The bedspread was on fire
The Obertiefenbach fire brigade reports that two fire sources have been extinguished with heavy respiratory protection. The bed cover, among other things, had caught fire. After 20 minutes the “fire out” could be given. In the meantime, the police have started investigating. The 31-year-old’s partner, who lives there, was noticed unpleasantly.
Arson threatens
The 35-year-old was aggressive and clearly intoxicated. She was probably in a state of psychological emergency and refused any cooperation with the officials. She was taken to a hospital, her partner was taken to LKH Oststeiermark with suspected smoke poisoning. The cause of the fire is now under investigation; malicious intent cannot be ruled out.
