Russian woman arrested during her mother’s funeral for a 25 euro donation

Date:

A 34-year-old Russian woman was arrested in Crimea’s Black Sea peninsula, which was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014. She is now accused of treason over just 25 euros.

Lawyer Lyudmila Kolesnikova has actually lived in Ireland since 2022 and trained as a beautician there, reports the human rights project ‘Support for Political Prisoners ‘Memorial”.

When her mother died, she traveled to annexed Crimea. There they showed no mercy to the 34-year-old, who had already been so badly affected: she was immediately arrested at the cemetery by employees of the Russian domestic secret service FSB!

Behind bars for months – without knowing why
It is said that the Russian woman had to spend several months in custody under adverse conditions. Without accusations, without information. In addition to being completely isolated from the outside world, she did not even have hygiene products, clothes or a hairbrush at her disposal.

Only in October 2024 was Lyudmila “officially” transferred to pre-trial detention, as reported by a volunteer on Telegram under the pseudonym “Anastasia”.

Two NFT stamps were fatal
Ultimately, the purchase of two NFT stamps worth a total of 25 euros was given as the reason for the criminal prosecution. Drones are said to have been purchased for the Ukrainian army.

It is believed that security forces only came across this information after the woman was arrested – through the internet banking app installed on the smartphone they took with them.
