The 39th Danube Island Festival, which will transform Vienna’s Danube Island into Europe’s largest open-air festival with free entry, kicks off on Friday. This time the same applies: be careful, illegal parkers are rigorously towed away!
According to the ÖAMTC, the access roads to the Danube Island must be free for emergency services at all times. If you park your vehicle contrary to traffic, you risk costs of more than 400 euros (towing, storage, display and possibly taxi). Hence the urgent appeal from the transport experts: visitors to the festival should use public transport.
Strong influx expected
Those who do not want to go to the Danube Island Festival should change directly to the connections via the Praterbrücke (A23) or the Nordbrücke (which do require a vignette). On Floridsdorfer, Brigittenauer and Reichsbrücke there may be obstacles due to heavy influx.
The arrangement for short-term parking on Fridays must also be observed. This is true almost everywhere (Mon-Fri, 9am to 10pm) in the city of Vienna!
Sea of light for peace
In any case, the weather promises plenty of sunshine, the headliners a relaxed atmosphere and the support act is fun and action for all generations. With a sea of lights a particularly strong sign for peace is being set this year.
