The unions have coded in a 80-85% follow up of the strike declared this Thursday in the metal sector of Bizkaia by ELA, CC. OO., LAB, UGT, ESK, CGT and CNT in defense of the agreement.
The strike day started early in the morning with: informative pickets and at 11:30 am the workers manifested in Bilbao, from the Employer’s Headquarters (FVEM) to the Arenal Bridge.
This Thursday’s strike is the first of three announced by the unions in light of the blockade of the collective bargaining Specifically, shutdowns are also planned for June 30 and July 1.
Just before the demonstration began, the head of industry at ELA, Mikel Etxebarria, emphasized that the goal of the convened unions to “stop production” in the Biscay metal sector and “flood the streets” is receiving massive support.
Faced with the “blockade in the negotiations” by the Biscayan Federation of Metallurgists (FVEM), he pointed out that the Biscay Metalworkers’ class has given “a strong response”. In this sense, he has warned the FVEM that “if it continues to block negotiations, we will be more than prepared for next week to carry out two other major strikes in Metal de Bizkaia”.
