Fire on Lienz roof – police convicted suspected arsonist (21)

A fire on the roof of a commercial building in Lienz has kept the Lienz police busy since September. It has now become known that, after further investigation, a 21-year-old admitted to having started the fire.

On September 19, the Lienz fire brigade had to leave shortly before 11 p.m. At that time, for unknown reasons, a fire broke out on the roof of a commercial building near the Lienz train station.

The emergency services were able to quickly get the fire under control and extinguish it. The cause was still under investigation until then. The damage was still unknown.

Investigation led to the suspected perpetrator
As police now report, a 21-year-old local man has been identified as an “urgent suspect.” During further investigation, a clue led to the young man. He allegedly started the fire with cardboard boxes. “The 21-year-old confessed to the crime,” investigators said.

Probably another violation has been resolved
During the course of the fire investigation, the damage to property caused by the 21-year-old on the construction site opposite the fire object was also clarified. This caused damage of several hundred euros. A report was filed against the man.
