Audi is proposing the dismissal of 4,500 employees in Germany and is negotiating an adjustment plan with the unions

Audi CEO Gernot Dollner assures that the manufacturer is undergoing a “restructuring” process with the expansion and “rejuvenation” of the vehicle range to position the group for the future and accelerate in a “tougher competitive environment”.

Audi is negotiating with the unions about an adjustment plan that will… dismissal of 4,500 people in Germany in the medium term in areas outside the company that are not related to vehicle production.

According to the plan being considered by the company, the planned reduction would be around 15% of the workforce. Initially, the cuts would be limited to divisions such as the development area where more than 2,000 jobs could disappear.

According to information from German media, the board of directors of the Volkswagen Group brand is negotiating with the unions about the layoffs, although no further information has been released.

At the end of the third quarter of the year, the automotive group recorded a decline in its net profit by 45.75% to 2,425 million euros.

By region, customer deliveries of the group’s brands fell 8.5% year-on-year in China (477,247 units) and 16.8% in the United States (139,665 units). Meanwhile, in Europe the company also reduced its sales by 9.8% (503,746 units).

However, for the whole of 2024, the company maintains its targets unchanged with a turnover of between 63 and 68 billion euros.
