Second verdict – Ex-municipal councilor must pay back loot to hospital

The trial lasted a number of days in Wels and now there has been a verdict – which is not legally binding. Two former employees of the Vöcklabruck hospital, including an ex-city councilor, were found guilty of secretly selling hospital equipment. They now have to make up for the damage.

He and a colleague are said to have secretly sold medical equipment from the Vöcklabruck hospital to “supplement his salary”. Trials against two suspects, including a former deputy municipal councilor, took place in Wels over several days. The second guilty verdict came on Friday, because the ex-politician’s accomplice had already been convicted.

Additional fine
The former employees must repay the ‘looted value’ of € 214,000 each to the healthcare holding company. The ex-politician, who had already been convicted of drugs, received another seven-month suspended sentence and a fine. Not legally binding.
