The association ‘Holidays Without Handicap’, which is committed to children and young people with multiple and serious disabilities, encountered financial difficulties. Donations are now urgently needed because major donors surprisingly failed to materialize. Moreover, the association did not want to pass on all inflation to the parents, which would have been possible with the usual donation volume.
For ten years now, the association ‘Holidays without Disabilities’ has been filling a major gap in the care offering for severely and multiply disabled children in Austria.
Birgit Stoifl from the Waldviertel implemented her exemplary concept of one-on-one care around the clock at the time: through experienced interaction, children and young people not only make further development steps possible, but also breathe new strength and courage. Parents who are otherwise constantly there for their children can take a break during a holiday camp week and gain new energy for the demanding care they need.
Healthcare requests from the Netherlands
Due to its unique character, the model club even received questions from the Netherlands and Germany. They had to be turned away because they couldn’t even handle all the domestic cases. The state is happy to support this special project, says State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister.
Drop in donations – club needs help
Now the club found itself in financial difficulties due to the unexpected loss of major donors. “In addition, as a club we did not want to pass on the full cost of living to the parents. The donations from 2023 would have been sufficient,” Stoifl now hopes for the big hearts of the “Krone” readers.
