Empty promise – vortex: Parents ‘hijacked’ the school bus in Tullnerfeld

Date:

There are still problems due to a long walk for students on a busy street without a sidewalk near Zwentendorf (Lower Austria). Because NÖVOG failed to keep a promise from the Crown, people forced a bus driver to stop and confronted her, says an angry mother.

A mother from Tullnerfeld on line 444 reported great excitement, which even led to parents running into the street to hail a bus and confront the driver. The school bus has been running there since mid-September due to the flood disaster, a different route resulted in the closure of a bus stop.

Busy street with no sidewalk
The consequence of this was and is: children from Zwentendorf primary and secondary school have to walk 1.3 kilometers home on a busy street without a sidewalk, which prompted parents to give up public transport – the ‘Krone’ reported. NÖVOG promised improvements from November 11. Because that didn’t happen, there was a small “street commotion”.

NÖVOG apologizes
NÖVOG finds this “extremely regrettable”, a spokesperson emphasizes. There was a communication problem with the responsible transport company. “The situation should really be resolved from November 18,” they apologize. The intention was actually that the route would be used normally from November 4. But there was still too much uncertainty about pumping out and road closures.
