Difficult to use in the Salzkammergut. The Buchberghütte at 1015 meters above sea level has been on fire since the early morning hours. The fire brigade in particular has a hard time because the route to the hut is difficult.
Every year, thousands of hikers pass the hut in the border area between Upper Austria and Salzburg on their way to the Schafberg (1,781 meters high). However, the building has been on fire since the early morning hours. Due to the location, the fire brigade has great difficulty getting to the scene. There are now two helicopters that bring water from the Attersee to the mountain.
The volunteer fire brigades of Sankt Gilgen, Sankt Lorenz, Unterach am Attersee and Steinbach am Attersee are currently in action and supporting their colleagues from Salzburg. Particularly bitter: these days they wanted to clean up after the end of the season and get everyone ready for winter.
