A 36-year-old woman was attacked by two men near Bleiburg on August 1 and robbed of cash that had previously been withdrawn from a bank. But now the investigators found out: the robbery was fake. Woman invented serious crime.
August 1: In Klagenfurt, a Slovenian woman withdraws a four-figure amount of cash from a bank and drives in her car towards Bleiburg. Around 12:45 p.m., the woman has to stop at St. Michael’s and breathe because she is suffering from gastritis. Suddenly a man approaches, stares at the woman and the second perpetrator presses her head against the steering wheel. The envelope with the money is gone. The woman sounds the alarm. An alarm search was immediately conducted, but without success.
The lack of success can now be explained: during a new interrogation, the 36-year-old became entangled in contradictions. Your information about the alleged robbery does not match. Finally, she admits to having invented the crime.
She cites financial problems when building a house, calculation errors when taking out loans and car repairs that needed to be repaired at short notice.
“Theft in itself is a serious crime. The court can also impose heavy penalties for fictitious robberies,” says Hannes Lassnig, department inspector at the State Criminal Investigation Department – Robbery Group.
