Half dead on the doorstep – tomcat “Hope” moves to his rescuers

Date:

A few weeks ago, “Hope” was badly injured on the doormat of the Mistelbauer family. For a long time he fought to survive, now he can join his lifeguards.

It was a sight that terrified not only animal lovers. A complete stranger lay seriously injured on the doormat of the Mistelbauer family in the Krems district. The right front leg hung only by a tendon, the head was turned unnaturally to the right.

“He Wanted to Live”
The Mistelbauers immediately took the velvet paw to the animal shelter in Krems, where they fought for weeks for the life of the brave animal. It didn’t look good. The leg had to be amputated, the tomcat, who was now baptized “Hope” (in German: “Hope”), could not move his head and could not stand up. “But he fought, wanted to live and purred with gratitude when we petted him,” says his caretaker.

Extensive examinations, laser treatments and daily “gymnastics” followed. And of course the joy was enormous when “Hope” was able to stand on his three legs and move his head for the first time.

grown on my heart
The Mistelbauer family was the one who followed his healing process closely all the time and often visited him. And “Hope” has become so dear to his lifeguards that he is now even allowed to move in with them.

The Krems Animal Shelter, which funded all treatments and surgeries including CT and MRI, is asking for donations so we can continue to help animals in need like “Hope”.
