In the current political scandal surrounding the well-known hunting photo with the Tyrolean SPÖ leader Georg Dornauer and René Benko, emotions are running high. In a poll by krone.tv, citizens gave free rein to their feelings: “It’s a joke that a bankrupt can even invite such a person to go hunting. Apparently something like this only exists here in Austria.”
For many it is incomprehensible that Dornauer remains in politics, even though the pressure is increasing.
One citizen who suggested Dornauer resign was particularly harsh: “He should get out of politics after all this. Above all, he goes hunting with René Benko. So far he has fooled the Austrians and the Germans!” She is certain that Dornauer must leave politics to regain the trust of citizens.
But there are also people who view the whole thing with a hint of skepticism. “So many truths become untruths and untruths become truths. “You really don’t know what’s going on,” says Luisa. Another made the decision with humor: “It is a funny photo and the arguments and comments that Mr. Dornauer and his entourage give about it are particularly interesting.”
