“It is the process of cowardice”

Date:

The ex-wife of Dominique Pelicot, who assaulted her about 200 times over a decade after drugging her, has claimed that “it is time for the patriarchal society that trivializes rape to open its eyes and change its outlook.”

Gisèle Pelicot This Tuesday, she was confronted by the 51 suspects who had sexually abused her for years, including her ex-husband, who drugged her to leave her unconscious, and indicated that it was the “process of cowardice”.

“I feel anger towards these men because not once did they stopthey never reported at any time. They came to satisfy their sexual urges. They could stop at any time and none have reported. “That draws attention,” he berated, turning to them and pointing his finger at them.

In his final statement in this trial before the Avignon court, Pelicot opined that it is time for “the patriarchal society that trivializes rape, to open its eyes and change its outlook.”

The woman reports that she has heard of the legal proceedings since the beginning “unacceptable things”and that when he became aware of the situation, he waived the trial which was held behind closed doors, as was his right, even though ‘I knew what I was exposing myself to’.

Gisèle Pelicot has repeatedly stated that she has decided that the hearings are therefore public “Shame will switch sides.”

Gisèle has calculated that during the nearly ten years that the attacks organized by her ex-husband Dominique continued, she suffered approximately 200 rapes. “I have lost ten years of my life that I will never get back,” the 72-year-old victim emphasized. “The scar will never close,” he added.

The events reviewed took place in the house to which the Pelicots had moved when they retired to the town of Mazan, near Avignon. Her husband came into contact with other men on an online platform dedicated to sexual encounters and invited them to his home after administering large doses of anxiolytics to his wife, rendering her unconscious, allowing them to attack her without any memory. Dominique Pelicot recorded and photographed these rapes, documents that have become key pieces of evidence for the prosecution.

The lawsuit has been filed his last piece. After the latest statement today from Gisèle and Dominique Pelicot, it is expected that tomorrow, Wednesday, the private prosecutor’s pleas will begin and next week it will be the Public Prosecutor’s Office that will request the sentences for the suspects before the intervention of their lawyers. .
