Kaiser and Gruber – Carinthia’s state leaders are negotiating with the coalition

Date:

After the exploratory talks, the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS move to the negotiating table. The political spearhead of Carinthia, among others, will be involved.

Now it is certain: three parties are conducting government negotiations with each other. The representatives of the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS will sit opposite each other from Thursday in 40 subgroups and seven upper groups. Red club chairman Philip Kucher is considered appointed, state governor Peter Kaiser supports the SPÖ negotiating team from Carinthia. As the “Krone” learned, another member of the Carinthian government will also be involved in Vienna.

State Vice President Martin Gruber (ÖVP) has enjoyed a high reputation in the black federal party since winning the 2023 state elections – and will therefore also negotiate together with ÖVP veteran Gabriel Obernosterer.

Where Gruber is involved in the negotiations
The subject of agriculture seems likely to be one of his negotiating priorities, but Gruber will be sent into the ring by the People’s Party in other subgroups: according to information from the “Krone”, Gruber will be involved in negotiations in the subgroups fighting inflation and housing, competition policy and food, as well as consumer protection and energy prices.

The anti-inflation and housing group is led by State Secretary for Digitalization and Youth, Claudia Plakolm, while Economy and Infrastructure is led by the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Harald Mahrer.
