The US Embassy in Kiev has received specific information about a possible significant airstrike on November 20.
The US and Spain have decided to temporarily close their embassies in Kiev after the United States received “specific” information on Wednesday about a possible “major” airstrike on the city.
The first to announce the suspension of its activities was the American Legation.
“The US Embassy in Kiev has received specific information about a possible major airstrike on November 20. As a precaution, the embassy will be closed,” he warned in a statement addressed to American citizens.
Moreover, it assures that “ambassadors have been instructed to shelter in place. The U.S. Embassy recommends that U.S. citizens be prepared to take shelter immediately in the event of an air raid siren.”
Shortly after this statement was made public, the Embassy of Spain in Kiev has announced that it will not provide daytime services due to the “increased risk of airstrikes across Ukraine.” The Spanish Embassy continues to respond via email.
In an email to Spaniards living in the country, the embassy recommends that they “take extreme security measures, follow all recommendations of local authorities and always have a reception center.”
The embassy closures come days after Joe Biden’s administration, according to several media outlets, authorized Kiev to use ATACMS long-range missiles against Russian territory. These missiles were already used by the Ukrainian army this Tuesday, the Kremlin said, accusing the US of “adding fuel to the fire” in this conflict.
