Rammed in Graz – Styria wanted to cover up his son’s drinking accident

Date:

After his son caused a drunken accident in his powerful car in Eastern Styria, the 21-year-old’s father wanted to cover up the matter. An inappropriate attempt. The police soon discovered the duo. Now several advertisements are coming in.

Yesterday, Sunday, shortly before 2 p.m., the 21-year-old from the Weiz district was driving his father’s car, accompanied by a passenger (22). In Göttelsberg in the municipality of Mortantsch he turned from a side street onto the Katerlochweg (community street) and may have missed a 23-year-old woman driving from Graz in a car from the left.

A collision occurred with the young woman’s electric car. The 23-year-old and her passenger of the same age suffered minor injuries. The Red Cross provided initial care to the two before they were taken to the Weiz LKH for examination. The E-Call system of the premium electric vehicle had previously automatically made an emergency call.

Son was “accidentally” at the scene of the accident
While the Weiz City Fire Department was already carrying out the clean-up work and Weiz police officers were investigating the traffic accident, the owner of the SUV vehicle and the father of the 21-year-old posed as the driver of the accident. In the meantime, the son had arrived at the scene of the accident, as he says, ‘by chance’.

However, the 21-year-old fled the scene of the accident in his father’s second car before police arrived. Witnesses immediately alerted officers to inconsistencies and told them about the two young boys in the car involved in the crash. However, the 61-year-old stubbornly stuck to his rather credible version, after which the police launched a search for the second vehicle.

Trio traced in wanted car
After hours of searching, a police patrol finally came across the car they were looking for in the area of the B64 in Passail around 6 p.m. But the driver ignored the uniformed officers and turned around. Police followed the vehicle to an inn parking lot. During the check, police officers arrested the 61-year-old father, together with the son (21) who was hit and his passenger (22).

An alcohol test on the 21-year-old showed that he was slightly drunk. When asked about the incident, the probationary license holder stated with little credibility that he had only consumed alcohol after the accident. However, during further research, doubts arose about this story.

A barrage of advertisements threatens
Those involved now expect multiple charges, including suspicion of hit-and-run and driving a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. The local district council decides on the punishment. The 21-year-old has also been reported to the Graz Public Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion of traffic negligence and leaving an injured person.
