A pensioner from Mühlviertel experienced a nightmare in Lichtenberg on Monday. The woman had gotten out of her car, but it suddenly started moving. While trying to stop it, the 70-year-old was run over. The elderly woman was seriously injured and had to be taken to hospital.
The 70-year-old driver from Lichtenberg stopped her car on a sloping stretch of road in her home municipality on Monday afternoon around 12.15 pm and got out. Immediately afterwards, her VW Tiguan suddenly started rolling away.
The pensioner tried to stop the vehicle but was unfortunately hit by the car and overturned. Only a garden wall prevented the car from driving uncontrolled. The seriously injured person had to be taken to UKH Linz after emergency medical first aid by the Red Cross.
It is still unclear why the car started to roll. It is believed that the woman may have forgotten to apply the handbrake.
