Once again, an elderly woman’s good faith was coldly exploited by brazen fraudsters. They tricked a 79-year-old Tyrolean woman into giving them remote access to her PC. Several tens of thousands of euros have now disappeared.
Between September 2 and November 20, previously unknown perpetrators contacted the woman from the Imst district several times by telephone. The criminals tricked the 79-year-old into downloading an app and giving him access to her computer.
Transfers confirmed via mobile phone app
“Under false pretenses, the woman was tricked into confirming several transfers to a British and a German bank account via a mobile phone application,” police said. The damage amount currently amounts to an amount in the mid-five digits of euros. The police investigation is ongoing.
