Agreement violated? – Netanyahu threatens Hezbollah with war again

Date:

Just a day after the ceasefire took effect in Lebanon, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu threatened to continue the war. If Hezbollah breaks the ceasefire, the army is preparing for an ‘intense war’.

The Israeli politician left it unclear what exactly he meant by a violation of the agreement. Since the ceasefire came into effect on Wednesday morning, intense mutual attacks have stopped (see video above). However, the Israeli military has reported several incidents and has occasionally taken action against Hezbollah members for violations.

The Lebanese army, in turn, accuses the Israeli army of violating the agreement. After Hamas’ major attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, ally Hezbollah opened a second front with regular rocket attacks from southern Lebanon. In response, the Israeli army has decided to target militias in the neighboring country. The attacks intensified in mid-September and a ground offensive was launched in southern Lebanon shortly afterwards.

Houthis want to continue the attacks
According to figures from the Lebanese government, more than 3,800 people have been killed in the war in Lebanon so far. More than 900,000 people fled the fighting. According to authorities, 82 armed forces personnel and 47 civilians were killed on the Israeli side.

In addition to Hamas and Hezbollah, the Houthi militia in Yemen is another enemy of Israel. This continues the fighting in “all areas,” including with “military operations,” leader Abdel-Malik al-Houthi said. “It is important to build on the successes on the Lebanese front and move towards further escalation, especially from Iraq and Yemen.”

The Houthis control large areas, especially in Yemen, and after the Gaza war broke out they began shelling ships suspected of having ties to Israel.
