Even state officials with many years of professional experience have probably never experienced anything like it! The (single and initially disabled) manager of a district nursing home in the south of Upper Austria has been involved in her own home for weeks after being hospitalized, as it were for transitional care. She was there day and night – and at the same time continued to work as a manager. With a nursing bed in the office or next to it
In a request for help by e-mail (short for Corpus Christi), a person working there listed a number of care measures that are carried out daily for “the boss”: A limit had been crossed. You can’t continue like this after all the other burdens of the nursing staff. With dedication, professionalism and love for our profession, we want to continue to care for the elderly. And don’t take care of your own boss, if you will.
“The bra isn’t helping us,” the email continued. This is disputed by Gmunden’s district governor Mag. Alois Lanz, in charge of the house as president of the social welfare association – see quote from him in attachment. In any case, apparently (also) someone from within the state called in the state home surveillance, who was driving there on the day of the cross.
The office of Social Provincial Councilor Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer (ÖVP) confirms this commitment: “Yes, that happened to us, we also became active immediately. The residential counselor immediately made a check-up and stopped doing so.” But district chief Lanz also says that he has applied for the housing supervisor, as a kind of reinforcement.
What the director of the house says about the allegations
The director of the home (whose name we can’t mention for media-legal reasons) may think it’s a bit too naive not to go on sick leave right away. She used only 30 to 45 minutes of internal help a day for three days, but the head of nurse turned it off on June 2. The other three weeks in the “care office” she was taken care of by external parties, most recently the aid organisation. Starting tomorrow, Monday (June 27), the manager will be officially on sick leave.
