“Krone”: The Chamber of Commerce recently published a study on the added value of Styrian cable car companies. “Without them it would be dark in some valleys,” said one. Is it really that dramatic?
Mathias Schattleleitner: Without tourism it would be really dark in some valleys. In Styria, industry often plays a major role, but in the Oberenstal, tourism – just like in Salzburg and Tyrol – is much more important. Last year we had our own value creation survey: the annual boost to the economy amounts to one billion euros.
