Russian oil currently no longer arrives in the Czech Republic via the southern part of the Druzhba pipeline. Industry Minister Lukas Vleck did not provide information about the possible reasons. In any case, his country’s refineries are well prepared for such a situation.
He proposed that the government borrow oil from state reserves for the Unpetrol refinery. “There is no danger that there will not be enough oil for the needs of households and businesses.” A few days ago, the Slovak government spoke about indications that an international group is planning attacks on critical infrastructure. It was initially unclear whether there was a connection.
Austria is not directly affected
The Druzhba pipeline splits in Belarus into two strands, a southern and a northern one. The southern route continues to the Czech Republic via Ukraine and Slovakia. There is no connection with Austria. According to Transneft, operations are proceeding normally on Russian territory.
