CPR en route – driver loses consciousness: multiple collisions

Dramatic scenes at the St. Peter school center in Graz: An 81-year-old driver suffered a medical emergency while driving. He crashed into a traffic sign and another car and had to be resuscitated. In Wetzelsdorf, a motorcyclist (55) had an accident when he braked hard.

The senior is said to have lost consciousness near the school center bus stop at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. First he collided with a traffic sign, then he drove towards the car of another road user who stopped at the traffic lights. The cars collided, but the second driver was unharmed.

An hour long roadblock
Several witnesses removed the 81-year-old from the vehicle, administered first aid and made the emergency call. The man was resuscitated on the spot by the emergency services who quickly arrived on the scene and were then taken to LKH Graz. According to police, he is in critical condition and has not yet been able to be questioned about the accident. The Petersgasse was closed for about an hour.

Just an hour later, a second serious accident occurred in the city of Graz: In Wetzelsdorf, a motorcyclist fell after hard braking and was injured. A 71-year-old driver drove from the parking lot of a supermarket into Straßganger Straße around 6:15 p.m. She may have overlooked the 55-year-old on his motorcycle. He braked hard to avoid a collision and slid his motorcycle into the car. He was injured to an unspecified degree and was taken to UKH Graz. The driver of the car was uninjured.
