The Austrian Post is in packing stress during Christmas. To ensure everything ships in time for the gifts, domestic packages must be mailed no later than December 20.
If you want to avoid the Post Express rate, you must arrive a day earlier at the normal price. If the gift package is going to a neighboring country, then one day earlier. The deadline for the normal package worldwide is December 13.
For Eco-Letter the domestic shipping deadline is December 17th, for Prio-Letter it is December 19th. When shipping to neighboring countries, the deadline is significantly shortened, for Prio-Letter until December 13 and for Eco-Letter until December 13. December 10. An eco-document sent worldwide must be submitted by December 6.
Special opening hours and extended delivery
For everyone who receives a gift: Delivery will take place on December 24 at noon. There are also special opening hours.
“To ensure that the last parcels can be collected before Christmas, most post offices in Austria will be open at least from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, and even from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, December 23. On Tuesday, December 24, all post offices will be open at least from 9 a.m. to 12 noon,” the company said.
