The Basque economy grew by 1.8% in the third quarter of 2024, two-tenths more than progress

The services and construction sectors boosted the economy, with increases of 2.2% and 1.5% respectively; The sector experienced modest growth (0.7%). Employment data is positive, with a year-on-year increase of 1.6% and the creation of 15,795 additional jobs.

The Basque economy grew by 1.8% in it third quarter compared to the same period last year, two tenths more than what was advanced in the provisional calculation of a month and a half ago.

In October, the Basque Statistical Institute, Eustat, released preliminary data for the third quarter, predicting an increase of 1.6%, although the final data published on Thursday was 1.8%.

The increase in GDP compared to the previous quarter is more modest: 0.5%.

By sectors, the sector Services is the one that has performed the best, with an increase of 2.2% compared to the same quarter of 2023. Build it lags behind, with an increase of 1.5%. The industrial sector has barely grown by 0.7% on an annual basis. The primary sector, on the other hand, fell by 1.3%.

As for the employmentthe evolution is positive, as annual growth of 1.6% was recorded, which means that a total of 15,795 net jobs were created more than in the third quarter of 2023. These final data confirm the October estimates.
